Activism stuff

I originally posted these in a_better_world, my community and it was suggested that I cross-post them here.

So here they are :)

These are some actions I've come across in the past week.

Feel free to point me in the direction of any other activism sites you find/like, because right now these are pretty limited.

Anyway, here's what I managed to dig up this week:

Act for Change
Stop Government Propaganda Act
"Secretly paying journalists to promote particular points of view is unacceptable and unethical. The Stop Government Propaganda Act is a bill that would prevent U.S. tax dollars from being used to fund covert propaganda."
(What you can do)

Amnesty International
"Since 1990, 11 child offenders have been executed. Currently there are at least 30 others awaiting execution. Among them are Ali, Sattar, Vihad and Mohammad T, all children under the age of 18.
(What you can do)
"Despite 21 years of conflicts, more than 2 million dead, 6 million forced to flee their homes, thousands of women and children abducted and/or raped and hundreds of villages destroyed and relatives still missing, not one perpetrator of war crimes or crimes against humanity is known to have been brought to justice in Sudan."
(What you can do)

Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR)
USA Today
"In its February 3 edition, USA Today not only failed to challenge a George W. Bush distortion about Social Security-- it actually changed Bush's remarks to make them more accurate."
(What you can do)

"A document leaked to the ETC group reveals that Canada is going to the UN to promote "terminator" technology: genetically engineered (GE) seeds designed to grow crops which can't reproduce. These "suicide seeds," designed solely to protect the patents and profits of multinational corporations, are currently forbidden from being planted outside the lab. The secret instructions to Canada's delegation: block concensus on any other option than testing these seeds in the wild."
(What you can do)
North Korea
"North Korea announced on February 10th that it would no longer engage in dialogue on its nuclear program. It also reported it had manufactured bombs to protect itself against a US attack."
(What you can do)
Valentine's Day
"When you buy a gift for a loved one you don't expect that it might come with a dose of harmful chemicals. But if you are buying certain perfumes this Valentine's day that's exactly what you'll get."
